Interop provides RCS-E compliant solution without IMS

FORT MYERS, USA: Interop Technologies, a provider of core wireless solutions for messaging, mobile device management, and connectivity gateways, introduced its Rich Communication Suite (RCS) solution, enabling wireless network operators to offer subscribers an enhanced communication experience without the need to deploy a full IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) architecture.

The Interop solution complies with an enhanced version of RCS known as RCS-e, which gives subscribers the ability to send instant and group messages and exchange files in real time.

Interop’s server-based solution seamlessly integrates with any RCS-e client, giving operators the freedom to choose one or more clients for their devices. By offering subscribers a rich communication experience, wireless network operators can mitigate subscribers’ use of popular “over-the-top” services without changing their current network.

RCS-e uses an enhanced address book as the foundation for communication, providing users with the current capabilities of each contact so they can choose their preferred communication option. Subscribers can initiate communication from within the address book—including instant messaging and group messaging—and can share photos or videos during communication sessions.

“Interop’s RCS solution provides full RCS-e compliance—not ‘RCS-like’ features—while completely supporting legacy messaging technologies that subscribers currently use,” said Steve Zitnik, Executive Vice President–Chief Technology Officer, Interop Technologies. “This approach enables operators to compete with over-the-top players today and seamlessly implement an IMS core if and when they choose to do so.”
