Globe Partners with Sicap for USSD service menus in the Philippines

BERNE, SWITZERLAND: Globe Telecom, a leading telecommunications company in the Philippines, and Sicap, solutions provider to mobile operators, have announced the launch of a dynamic, scroll-down menu content service for easy service discovery and usage.

The selection of Sicap’s USSD Menu Browser (UMB) software means that Globe is now set to offer a range of self-care, value-added services and professional data services to its subscribers, according to subscription type.

For customers, USSD menu services are user friendly and free to access. By using Sicap UMB, Globe will make it easy for its mobile subscribers to access a wide-range of value added services. Sicap UMB now enables Globe to offer services via a menu, thereby making the service very easy and eliminating human errors. Users can even create a shortcut on their keypad for future immediate access.

For the operator, Sicap UMB offers high-capacity processing. USSD is a channel ubiquitous to GSM networks that operators can exploit at practically no-cost, and which offers a response up to seven times faster than SMS. UMB also enables fast implementation of new, time to market services, by configuring the menu on the server side.

“We are proud to work with Globe on this ambitious, high-capacity platform and to provide solutions with an end user perspective. Our close working relationship from Sicap offices in Asia means that we can anticipate trends and launch services that really appeal to customers. We estimate a rapid return on investment for Globe, thanks both to increased service usage, and to savings from SMS-C off-loading,” said Sicap Asia Managing Director Giovanni Fabio.

The simplicity and attraction of the UMB browser will greatly benefit Globe’s subscribers.
